Taureana Port in Palmi is located in the western town area. Currently, the port structures include an outer breakwater and an inner breakwater. It was built as a continuation of the existing dock and it is 298m long and oriented in parallel with the isobath and the coast line. The inner breakwater is about 235 m long; in the initial section it is perpendicular to the coast, then runs parallel to the south-north isobaths and it curves to the south-east/north-west in the final section.
The inner stretch of water is about 40.000 square meters with different water depths: a 5 m draught at the entrance and along the docks of the outer pier, and a 3,5 m draught in the haulage and launch area (wet dock and ramp) and along the remaining docks. Depth gradually decreases to 0 near the shore that is not paved. The execution of enlargement works has been planned. The port is suitable for boat and fishing boat harboring
Caution: the perimeter fence is partially damaged, no gates exist at the two main entrances, no chains, dock edge protectors and fenders, and no fire protection systems; the dock near the shore is to be built.
Access: Vessels speed should be no higher than 5 knots. Particular attention should be taken to maneuvering vessels.
